Eagle Lake Northern Pike Fishing
Eagle Lake has countless acres of prime Northern Pike habitat within a short boat ride from Vermilion Bay Lodge. For anglers looking for fast action this is the species to target. Hard fighting and seemingly always eager to bite, pike are numerous in Eagle Lake. Pike in the 24-27 inch range are common, and are the best "eaters", with bigger fish pushing 40 inches and over being caught throughout the season.
All lakes in northwest Ontario have a protected slot size for pike of 27 ½ to 36 inches. These fish must be released. The result on Eagle has been impressive with the number of quality pike growing exponentially. For anglers who enjoy eating fresh fish but have never bothered with pike because of the "Y" bones, you will be pleased to know that here at Vermilion Bay Lodge the fish you bring in will be de-boned for your enjoyment. And if you like eating walleye, a boneless pike filet is every bit as tasty.
For our guests who enjoy a little extra adventure, Vermilion Bay Lodge maintains a number of boats & motors on secluded portage lakes that offer some great fishing for big, heavy-bodied pike. Targeting these fish with surface baits, spinners and crank baits has produced some very thrilling catches in recent years. Try to imagine you and your partner connecting with one of these brutes on a beautiful, totally undeveloped lake. Your memory of the overall experience likely will be unforgettable. There is no extra charge for an adventure like this. Please ask us for details.
Eagle Lake has an endless supply of deep weed beds, sunken rock piles, channels & bays that will hold big pike throughout the season. For some suggestions on how to successfully catch pike on Eagle Lake check out our Pike Fishing Tips.
